Laurie Summers, president of Systems of Support for Educational Outcomes, Inc., offers the wisdom, compassion, and skills of an experienced educator. Her educational experience includes teaching special & general education students; as well as gifted students in a School Within a School setting. Her expertise includes best evidence-based practices coupled with a commitment to the implementation of systems and practices to assure that every child’s best interests are met by supporting successful academic and social emotional outcomes. She has an understanding of the challenges facing the educational community and knowledge of current trends in educational practices. As a result, she is able to work with school staff to meet the diverse needs of each educational community. She has proudly served thousands of students and their families. 

Education

Laurie earned a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction with a major in Curriculum & Supervision and a Bachelor of Arts in special

education/elementary education from Northern Illinois University. As a licensed educator, her background includes intensive

coursework in many educational areas supporting academic, social & emotional competencies.

Training & Qualifications

Extensive training and support from the Illinois Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

(PBIS)Network has prepared Laurie to lead professional development and on-going technical support with

school teams implementing positive behavior systems at varyinglevels of fidelity. She has provided training,

coaching, and technical assistance to support implementation of positive behavior systemsin the following

learning settings:

Large public school district 

Special education cooperative

Early learning center

Children's behavioral health center

School classrooms

Laurie has also trained community agencies working in partnership with school staff to deliver direct

services and interventions to support students and families. Collaboratively working with school districts,

individual schools, teams of educators, and individual teachers, Laurie is uniquely qualified to facilitate

learning-focused conversations that drive effective data-based decisions and the development of action

plans to address student needs and individual school priorities.

Most Recent Work

Since 2009 Laurie has been supporting administrators, school staff, students, families and community

agencies in the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.  She has been working in

a coaching and training capacity to support implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support across

grade levels Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 in School District U-46. Laurie has helped develop the

capacity of schools to prevent problem behaviors, promote positive school culture, and to evaluate the
